Construction of water pipeline starts in southern Moldova

Chisinau, 17 January /MOLDPRES/ – More than 20,000 inhabitants of the Southern Region will benefit from modern water and sewerage services following the construction of the Leova – Iargara water pipeline. The first works under this project started in January and are expected to be completed in the autumn of 2018.
Project: Construction of the Leova-Iargara magistrate water pipeline is a part of the programme for modernization of the local public water supply services in Leova district, implemented with the support of the International Cooperation Agency of Germany (GIZ).
The total value of the works is about €3 million or over MDL 60 million, out of which €2.4 million are offered by the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany through GIZ, and €600 thousand are allocated from the National Development Fund Regional and council of Leova district.
The water pipeline Leova – Iargara, with a length of about 23 km, will connect Leova and villages Iargara, Filipeni, Romanovca, Sarata Noua, Hanăsăseni Noi and Cupcui, with a total of 23,433 inhabitants.
According to the South Regional Development Agency’s (ADRS) info, the parties involved into implementation of the project agreed to comply strictly with the approved building standards so as to avoid deviations from the project documentation and ensure works’ high quality.
The Leova works are part of project: Modernizing local public services in Moldova, implemented by GIZ in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment of Moldova, financially supported by the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, EU, Government of Romania, Government of Sweden and Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.
