Moldova's policies on promoting use of energy from renewable resources adjusted to EU legislation

Chisinau, 17 January /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet of ministers today approved a string of amendments and completions to the law on promoting the use of energy from renewable resources. The goal of these amendments and completions is to adjust Moldova’s legislation in the renewable energy sector to the EU’s acquis, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
Thus, the cabinet is to establish rules or organization and holding tenders of capacities for the production of electric energy from renewable resources, so that competition among big investors is promoted. At the same time, the National Energy Regulatory Agency will have power to confirm the status of eligible producer for developers of projects, which show their interest in investments in technologies of turning to account renewable energy in Moldova.
At the same time, the government approved extension of the period provided to investors for construction of power plants, from 24 months to 36 months.
The document is to be submitted to parliament for consideration.
