Government backs foreigners' integration in Moldova

Chisinau, 17 January /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet today approved an action plan on foreigners’ integration for 2018. The actions set are aimed at improving the legal framework in the field, ensuring the observance of all rights of foreigners and strengthening the capacities of the structures which provide services to them, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The principal measures regard the ensuring of the access to education, including courses of studying the Romanian language, labour market for foreigners, medical services and social assistance, as well as to the promotion of cultural diversity.
At the same time, decision-makers will ensure the functionality of regional integration centres for foreigners and will promote measures of informing, by strengthening also the capacities of the central and local public administration authorities in communication with foreigners. Moreover, the civil society will be involved more actively in the process of foreigners’ adaptation.
The implementation of integration activities will be assessed yearly, in order to establish the next priorities and efficiently plan the budgetary resources.
According to data from June 2017, 18,936 foreigners had right of stay in Moldova and 3,164 ones held valid identity papers in the Transnistrian region. At the same time, 477 people were registered in the asylum system in late last September.
