Authorities say all highways practicable in Moldova

Chisinau, 18 January /MOLDPRES/ – On Moldova’s highways it is circulated in winter conditions and now all roads are practicable. The announcement was made today for the agency by the head of Administration Operational Service (ASD) of the state roads, Sergiu Capatina.

According to the cited source, over recent night, 331 motorists and 323 workers were involved. "There were used over 3,000 tons of anti – slip material on the roads. The snow ranged from the east of Moldova to the centre, north and south. Currently, there are done snow removal works and fighting the slide. We will monitor all sectors of the road and, if necessary, increase the number of interventions," said Sergiu Capatina.

Also, the interim mayor of the capital, Silvia Radu, specified that the number of the machines that went to clean the streets of Chisinau was increased at night. "It was operated with 49 trucks from EXDRUPO, and the Municipal Directorate intervened with 42 machines and 400 people to carry out the snow removal works. At 8:30, we convened the meeting for exceptional situations at the Chisinau mayor’s office. We will try to keep the situation under control, to be able to circulate in winter city," wrote Silvia Radu on a social network.

According to the data of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) of the Ministry of Interior Affairs (MAI), a truck was stopped near locality Moscova, Cahul city and on route R – 34 near Giurgiulesti, Cahul, seven trucks were stopped. During the night the rescuers carried out works to unblock several means of transport. At Telenesti near locality Mandresti, the firemen unlocked four cars from snow and a truck transporting fuel.

The IGSU created three crisis cells in the northern, southern and central areas of Moldova. The crisis cell’s officials have the task of monitoring the situation on routes and localities in Moldova and making decisions for interventions.

According to the State Hydrometeorological Service’s (SHS) info, snow will slow in the afternoon of 18 January 2018. Similarly, it remains valid the Orange Code of sleet for today.
