Moldovan PM demands maximum mobilization in connection with bad weather

Chisinau, 18 January /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip today morning summoned a meeting of the Commission for Emergency Situations in connection with the bad weather, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The PM demanded that the competent structures mobilize at a maximum, in order to act quickly in case of emergency situations. Pavel Filip stressed that there should be a close cooperation with the local public authorities and the central authorities must provide them with all needed support. “We have already made sure that, if we intervene in time, damages are reduced. This time, the mobilization was quicker and more efficient; yet, in continuation, we should also be prepared to cope with the bad weather,” the prime minister noted.
According to the situation unveiled by the economics and infrastructure minister, the national roads are presently accessible, with some difficulties for traffic on the highways Balti-Criva and Chisinau-Leuseni. All roads are permanently monitored, in order to urgently intervene, if necessary. During the night, 331 special vehicles worked, which spread over 3,000 tons of anti-skid material.
At the same time, three crisis cells were created: North, Centre and South. Policemen are mobilized to provide every needed support, including for the no-problem movement of busses which carry children to education institutions.
Today morning, over 200 settlements were partially disconnected from power supply. Pavel Filip demanded the taking of urgent measures to reconnect the settlements to electricity supply. At the same time, the prime minister demanded intervention in terms of policies and regulation, so that the electric energy provider Gas Natural Fenosa intervenes quickly to liquidate the defects and resume the supply with electricity.
Also, the PM demanded that the authorities have an as good as possible communication, so that citizens are informed in case of blockages on highways. “The priority number one represents the people and we must provide them with all needed support,” Pavel Filip stressed.
