Agreement with Ukraine on readmission of persons to be published in Moldova's Official Journal

Chisinau, 18 January /MOLDPRES/ - The agreement between the governments of Moldova and Ukraine on readmission of persons will be published in the 19 January issue of Moldova’s Official Journal (Monitorul Oficial).  

The document establishes the principles and norms regulating the procedure of return and readmission of people staying on the territory of the two states, in cases when the regime of entrance/exit and stay of foreign citizens and stateless persons is violated. Also, the document will allow identifying a mechanism of providing reciprocal assistance, in order to efficiently implement the policies of readmission and carry out the commitments of Moldova in the field of fighting illegal migration.

The agreement is aimed at adjusting the national legislation to the international rigours, in line with the EU standards and represents a major goal of the Association Agreement.

The present document was signed on 6 October 2017 and ratified by the parliament on 15 December 2017.

The government, in a two-month period, will bring the normative acts in line with the current law and will work out/approve regulations and other normative acts  needed to enforce this law.
