Moldovan foreign ministry welcomes UN Secretary General's call for renewed efforts to regulate frozen conflicts

Chisinau, 19 January /MOLDPRES/ – Moldova fully shares the UN Secretary General's concern and appeal to the United Nations member states from 16 January 2018, as to renew efforts to prevent and resolve conflicts that undermine international peace and security.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration (MAEIE) particularly welcomes the appeal to European leaders by Secretary – General, Antonio Gutteres, to work harder to regulate "frozen conflicts" by revitalizing existing negotiation mechanisms, including format 5+2.
The MAEIE reiterates importance of regulating those conflicts, including the Transnistrian conflict, in accordance with the UN Charter and fundamental norms of international law, by full respect of principles for sovereignty and territorial integrity.
