Meteorologists forecast appropriate winter weather for upcoming days in Moldova

Chisinau, 19 January /MOLDPRES/ – Temperate frost, variable sky, isolated precipitations in the form of snow, but generally nice winter weather, forecast meteorologists for upcoming days.

According to the State Hydrometeorological Service’s (SHS) information and media communication service, on 20 January and 21 January, thermal values will be – 02ºC – + 03ºC during the daytime, and 0ºC – – 07ºC at night in Moldova. Traditionally, a few warmer degrees will be in the southern region, but more snow is expected in that area.

It will be gloomy, but quiet weather, sometimes with low snow from the beginning of the next week in Moldova. For months synoptics forecast 0°C – 03°C of cold in south, and minus 02°C – 05°C in north. The coldest night will be in the northern area where frost will reach minus 8 degrees. In the following days, the thermometers will tend to drop, so that by Thursday, 25 January, Moldova will record up to 14 degrees of frost.

"It is not a state of extraordinary weather, with common phenomena, it is an ordinary feature for this season in Moldova. The most unfavourable conditions, for winter autumn crops, are created at a minimum air temperature– 25°C and lower, with a snow cover of not more than 05 cm thick. The minimum twin – bed temperature drops – 15°C under such conditions, which can cause injury and even twining knot, and therefore the entire plant. Such conditions, on most of territory of Moldova, are observed in less than 5 per cent of years," said SHS sources.

Old Orthodox Christians celebrate today the Epiphany (Baptism of the Lord) and tomorrow St. John the Baptist, several sources indicate that these days are good and must be frost and snow.

The people’s meteorology has its signs for Epiphany. It is said that the weather on this day is over the year. If it rains, it is a long winter and good weather means a beautiful summer. If the crystals beat, it is a sign that there will be many fruits, and if water from the eaves will flow, good wine will be made. If trees are clothed in the abyss, it will be abundant and healthy.
