Chisinau, 22 January /MOLDPRES/- The World Congress of Families will be held in Chisinau on 13-16 September. Head of state Igor Dodon made the statement at a news conference jointly with chairman of the International Organisation for Family Brian Brown.
The president noted that the initiative to hold the congress was exposed last year in Budapest, Hungary. “It is going to be an event that will bring to the fore the traditional values, the family as the basic pillar of the society, the problems faced by the contemporary family and possible solutions. The International Organisation for Family is the most representative international forum of defending the traditional family and the right to life, members of which are representatives of 85 countries”, Dodon said.
The president said that the event will be attended by about 2,000 people, including 400 experts, politicians and opinion makers from over 50 states. “At the same time, following my personal invitation, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kiril and a senior representative of the Vatican expressed willingness to attend the Congress”, Dodon said.
For his part, Brown said that the organization is promoting the message that, despite all the differences, the family is the truth that holds us together. “Besides the ordinary meetings, the participants in the congress will be able to see the beauty of the country, enjoy the hospitality of the people, the dishes and the wines here. I look forward to this event and come back to Moldova”, he said.
In 2015, the World Congress of Families was held in Salt-Lake City (USA), in 2016 – in Tbilisi (Georgia), in 2017 – in Budapest (Hungary).
