Moldovan parliament speaker meets largest business associations of Denmark

Chisinau, 22 January /MOLDPRES/ – Speaker of Parliament, Andrian Candu, presented the investment opportunities in Moldova at meetings with Executive Director of Confederation of Industries of Denmark, Thomas Bustrup, and Executive Director of the State of Green, Finn Mortensen. The discussion took place during the visit of a parliamentary delegation to the Kingdom of Denmark, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.

"Moldova is a small country, but it has a pro – business government that sets its objectives and fulfills them. Due to such approach, business climate improved by reducing bureaucracy and number of permissive acts for entrepreneur activity through moratorium on controls carried out by state institutions on economic agents, expanding tax incentives for IT industry companies, free economic areas, subsidies for creation of new jobs etc. We have opportunities for business growth through free trade agreements with East and West," said Andrian Candu. He encouraged Danish companies to invest into Moldova.

During the meeting, it was discussed cooperation between business associations and national government as well as at the community level. Andrian Candu announced the government’s goals of having more renewable energy and diversifying energy sources. Related to it, the Speaker of Parliament agreed with the State of Green to take over Danish experience and support in implementing good practices for smart energy solutions that reduce dependency on external suppliers. The parties also decided to organize a business mission from Denmark to Moldova.

The Speaker is paying an official visit to Copenhagen on 21 – 24 January 2018.

State of Green is a public – private partnership founded by the Government of the Kingdom of Denmark, Danish Industry Confederation, Energy Association, Agriculture and Food Industry Council and Wind Industry Association. State of Green is patronized by Prince Frederick of Denmark.

According to official info, there are 42 active companies with Danish capital in Moldova, with investments amounting MDL 55.52 million. The volume of foreign trade of Moldova with Denmark, excluding commercial activity of economic agents from eastern districts, consisted $13.13 million in January – October 2017, up 22.48 per cent compared to 2016.
