Moldovan speaker meets with leadership of Danish parliament

Chisinau, 22 January /MOLDPRES/ – Parliament Speaker, Andrian Candu, met today President of Folketinget (Parliament of the Kingdom of Denmark), Pia Kjaersgaard, and four other members of the Legislative Presidium – Henrik Dam Kristensen, Kristian Pihl Lorentzen, Christian Juhl, Leif Mikkelsen (Deputy Speakers of the Kingdom of Denmark), the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
"Moldova needs the experience and knowledge of Denmark to implement successfully the reforms as well as EU standards in legislation and regulations. Our priority is the European integration," said the Speaker of Parliament.
A special interest of President Folketinget referred to the mechanism for improving media law, launched at the initiative of Andrian Candu in 2017, but especially measures taken by the Moldovan authorities to secure info space of propaganda and misinformation in Moldova. The parties discussed advantages offered to investors at present after legislative changes of recent years, energy and info security, justice and reforms, as well as upcoming ones.
Andrian Candu exchanged views with members of the Presidium of Folketinget on the structure and organization of Parliament in the context of the reform that the head of Legislature launched at the end of 2017, aiming at increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of the institution, while reducing the number of employees and the expenses for their maintenance.
The Parliament Speaker also said that it have followed in Moldova in 2018, after a pause of ver two decades, for the first time to run elections according to mixed electoral voting system, which aims to bring MP closer to the people. The total of 135 Members of the Parliament (MPs) of the Kingdom of Denmark are elected on uninominal constituencies and 40 seats are distributed based on the number of votes obtained by the parties.
On 20 January 2018, the Republic of Moldova and the Kingdom of Denmark registered 26 years of diplomatic relations. The Speaker of Parliament pays an official visit to Copenhagen on 21 – 24 January 2018.
