Danish speaker invited to international conference on security, European integration, due in Chisinau

Chisinau, 23 January /MOLDPRES/- Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu invited Speaker of the Danish parliament Pia Kjaersgaard to an international conference hosted by the Moldovan parliament and organized by speakers of Moldovan, Georgian and Ukrainian parliaments in partnership with the Atlantic Council, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.

The international conference “Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine: Eastern Partnership and Current Security Challenges” will be held in Chisinau in March. Attending the event will be speakers and representatives of parliaments, as well as notable international experts.

The main issues are related to the challenges the region faces as a result of misinformation campaigns, economic and justice reforms in Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine in the context of European integration aspirations, energy security and frozen conflicts in the three countries.

Last year, Candu together with speaker of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze and chairman of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy signed a joint statement to the European Parliament calling for the opening of the three countries’ accession to the EU.

Subsequently, in November 2017, the European Parliament urged deepening cooperation with Moldova, Ukraine and Georgia, as well as finding new ways to support the three countries on the eastern borders of the EU.
