Chisinau, 23 January /MOLDPRES/- The leadership of the National Anticorruption Centre has been notified on the 98 women who wrote about the experience in hospitals in Moldova, considered and provided response to the applicants.

CNA spokeswoman Angeal Starinschi said that CNA director Bogdan Zumbreanu had a working meeting with the women group leader and CREDO representative and discussed the possibilities of cooperation between the CNA and civil society and the petitioner’s initiative group to prevent and combat corruption in medicine and education.

“The response to the petition of the 98 women was also provided, in which an analysis of the complaints was made, the possibilities of the CNA’s intervention on the described cases and the actions the institution will take to combat the phenomenon. The CNA director also discussed the possibility of involving civil society representatives in the actions planned by the CNA”, Starinschi said.

Currently, the CNA is working on a plan that provides for actions to combat corruption in both medical institutions and educational institutions in the country.

According to data by the CNA, in 70 out of the 98 cases reported in the petition filed by women group the medical institutions were indicated where these cases occurred, most of them from Chisinau. Thus, 29 cases occurred at the Mother and Child Institute, 24 cases were reported at the Municipal Clinical Hospital No1 and 3 cases at the Maternity No2.

At the same time, the anti-corruption officers say that 32 cases comprise corruption acts manifested by the extortion of some money for medical care. In most cases, shortcomings were found in terms of ethics and deontology of medical staff, expressed by negligence or verbal violence.

Earlier this month, a group of mothers who had suffered from interaction with the medical system in Moldova submitted a statement with a series of claims to several state institutions.

The statement has been attached to the histories of 98 women who have experienced deficiencies in the medical system during pregnancy and birth. The requests were submitted simultaneously to the government, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, Ombudsman Office and National Anticorruption Centre.
