Weather forecasters warn about formation of dangerous ice layer in Moldova's water basins

Chisinau, 23 January /MOLDPRES/ - The State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS) has informed about a Yellow Code of formation of ice layer in Moldova’s water basins.

According to meteorologists, the frosty weather, forecast for the days to come, will trigger formation of a dangerous ice layer in rivers, water basins and reservoirs from Moldova.

In this context, the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations has warned residents, especially parents with minors and people fond of ice fishing, to be cautious and avoid staying on ice on this period.

Frost, variable cloud, with no precipitation is expected in Moldova on the next days. The coldest weather will be on 24-26 January, when the air temperature is to vary between 0 and -6 degrees during the day and -10 - -17 degrees at night. The lowest air temperatures will be recorded in northern Moldova.
