Chisinau, 23 January /MOLDPRES/ – We have more obvious attempts of some entities from Russia to involve into electoral campaign which is to be held in Moldova, we document all these cases and we shall intervene to block them. The statement was made in an interview by the leader of the Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM), Vlad Plahotniuc.
According to Plahotniuc, PDM notified state institutions about such dangerous signals, but also international institutions. "We are not going to sit and do nothing, asking questions after the elections have already taken place. We will intervene on time and not allow anyone outside the country to get involved in election campaign, either directly or indirectly, through various ways of blackmail and pressure upon state or politics. The elections must be free, democratic and take place in Moldova, reflect the opinion of our citizens, including those who went abroad, but not the opinion of interest groups or of any other state," said Plahotniuc.
"When there are left – wing parties in Moldova that do not even hide from Moscow, when you have a party in the right – wing opposition with clear links with persons acting for Russian secret services and who have the mission to prevent a new pro-European coalition after elections, when there are more and more persons from Russia known for their propagandistic and harmful activity, we have to pay attention to what is happening," said the head of the Democrats.
He said that PDM would shortly come up with a new electoral approach not being oriented in any way to political wars, struggle with other parties, but to a competition with itself, ability to get much closer to citizens and help them.
"It is a pragmatic approach and with a very clear objective. The main enemy of PDM is represented by the problems in the country, accumulated in years and years of political instability, complicated coalitions, pride, power struggle, accumulated problems, including representatives of the parties that are today in opposition but not long ago were in power. Soon, we will resume weekly party meetings and come to colleagues with a plan that has exactly these directions on election year. So, on behalf of PDM, you should expect a strong involvement in solving problems faced by the country, less political polemics, avoiding political wars. We will react only when we consider it necessary to publicly point out some false accusations to us, we will defend our colleagues attacked unfairly," said Plahotniuc.
The leader of the Democrats announced that the party led by him would continue after elections the European development path with right – wing parties willing it.
