First ambassador of Moldova to Qatar decorated post – mortem

Chisinau, 23 January /MOLDPRES/ – At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Integration (MAEIE), Ambassador of Qatar to Moldova, Mohammed Bin Ali Mohammed Al – Malki, in presence of Minister Tudor Ulianovschi and the Ministry’s representatives, handed over to the late Valeriu Tihonov, first Ambassador of Moldova to Qatar, order Al Wajba, decorated post – mortem by his His Highness, Tamay Bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of Qatar, the MAEIE’s public diplomacy, strategic communication and media interaction service has reported.

During the ceremony, Minister Tudor Ulianovschi thanked the Ambassador of Qatar to Moldova, Mohammed Bin Ali Mohammed Al – Malki, for granting prestigious "Al Wajba" order by Emir of Qatar, expressing high appreciation for extraordinary qualities and essential contribution the late Ambassador Valeriu Tihonov in development of Moldovan – Qatar bilateral relations. The head of the Moldovan diplomacy said that Valeriu Tihonov would remain in the memory of the staff of MAEIE as a distinguished personality, who succeeded in launching cooperation with Arab world, especially with Qatar.

At his turn, Mohammed Bin Ali Mohammed Al – Malki, Ambassador of Qatar to Moldova, highly appreciated noble activity and full dedication of the late Ambassador Valeriu Tihonov in the exercise of his high responsibility mandate, underlining that this gesture of the Qatari authorities is an expression of gratitude for qualities of the Moldovan diplomat and a confirmation of the friendship between the peoples of Moldova and Qatar.

Al Wajba order was instituted by the Cabinet of Ministers of the State of Qatar on 29 March 2016 and it is part of the civilian decorations granted on basis of decision of Emir of Qatar as a sign of gratitude for outstanding merits.
