People ordering attempted murder of Moldovan Democratic leader, Russian banker are at large in Moscow - prosecutor says

Chisinau, 24 January /MOLDPRES/- The people who ordered the attempted murder of the leader of the Democratic Party of Moldova, Vlad Plahotniuc, and Russian banker Gherman Gorbuntov are at large in Moscow, the Russian Federation. The head of the Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Causes, Nicolae Chitoroaga, made the statement in an interview given exclusively for MOLDPRES Agency.

According to the prosecutor, the partner murder of the PDM leader has several arrest warrants and is accused of numerous crimes.

“In his name, last year we filed a lawsuit file on extortion of 15 million Russian rubles. The people who are behind the two assassination attempts have direct links with each other in committing the crimes. The suspects are known to everyone, one of whom is underworld Grigore Caramalac”, Chitoroaga said.

The Ukrainian MAI announced on 7 April 2017 about a possible attempted murder of Vlad Plahotniuc. Later, the criminal group consisting of 17 people was detained. In this case, Grigore Caramalac, suspected of ordering the assassination, was indicted and announced in international search. If they are found guilty, the suspects run the risk of 15 to 20 years of imprisonment and punishments for other offenses separately.

According to the prosecutors, mayor of Balti municipality Renato Usatii is as partner of assassination attempt of banker Gherman Gorbunțov. The attempted murder of businessman took place on 20 March 2012 in London. Gorbunțov managed to survive, even if eight bullets were drawn.
