Moldovan PM demands firmer actions to fight trafficking of drugs, driving drunk

Chisinau, 24 January /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip, at a today’s cabinet meeting, warned about cases of consumption of drugs, including in public places, discovered in the last period, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
Pavel Filip described such actions as inadmissible in public places and demanded that the Police do not tolerate these unlawful acts. “I believe that circles of drug consumers have no room in Moldova. We must not only fight, but also put an end to it from the very beginning, while following all schemes, those who bring and sell drugs, put an end to this phenomenon, which is a dangerous one,” the prime minister said. Also, the PM referred to accidents triggered by people driving drunk, which resulted in deaths, as well as to drivers who disregard the crosswalks.
In this respect, the prime minister demanded that the Interior Ministry makes a deep analysis and proposals, including on increasing the fines, in order to discipline drivers. “The fines are not taxes. Do not infringe and you will not pay, or I want to understand the goal of those who criticized us for increasing the fines. We take care for not having losses of human lives,” Pavel Filip added.
