Chisinau, 25 January /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip, at a today’s news conference, made specifications on the Kroll report, as well as on his earlier statement, in which he said that 90 per cent of the names appearing in this report were honest people.
The PM said that his utterance on the subject was unsuccessful and that things should be regarded in the context of the entire declaration he made.
“I want to state that this was an unsuccessful utterance on my behalf and I am sorry for this. Let us make the things clear: back in last November, those from Kroll were in Chisinau and we had a meeting chaired by me. The things which can be found in the report were presented, in general. Afterwards, the draft of this report was unveiled to those from the National Bank of Moldova (BNM). Those from BNM are to formulate a string of questions to Kroll, after which, in a short time, those from Kroll will come up with a final report. This document will be already presented to prosecutors,” Filip said.
The prime minister noted that those from Kroll demanded that the reported not be made public, and this fact is showed also in their letter, as well as in the contract.
“And they explained why. As they had many cases in their working experience and practice, by which, once made public, more names, who were found in reports, who proved to be innocent, sued them at law and they paid huge compensations. Let us be clear; they analyze, they have made this investigation of all financial flows and it is absolutely not excluded that names which have nothing in common with the billion theft or with this bank fraud will be found in this flow and who can be described as absolutely honest people,” Filip added.
The National Bank of Moldova published a synthesis of the Kroll-2 report in late December 2017. The document does not contain any new name of those involved in the bank fraud. Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu made public the first report of the Kroll Company back in 2015.
