Holocaust victims commemorated in musical performance in Moldovan capital

Chisinau, 25 January /MOLDPRES/ – The victims of Holocaust were commemorated today in a Moldovan – Israeli musical project by composer Baruch Berliner (Israel). At the ceremony, organized by the Jewish Cultural Centre KEDEM and hosted by the National Philharmonic S. Lunchevici was attended by Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Vladimir Vitiuc, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
"Yearly, on 27 January, we commemorate the victims of Holocaust, six million Jews killed during World War II (WWII). It is a world catastrophe, an enormous tragedy out of which we have to learn, never to be repeated again," said Vladimir Vitiuc in opening of artistic programme.
The Deputy Speaker of Parliament said that the memory of those tragic acts of history must be kept forever, including through action to combat discrimination, promote respect and human values. "Throughout involvement and attitude, we will keep alive memory of that twentieth – century massacre," said the vice – speaker.
There evolved Symphonic Orchestra of the National Philharmonic, actors of theatre: De pe strada Trandafirilor (From street Trandafirilor) and rock and ballet bands in a show with generic: Holocaust. Comemorare. Constientizare. Depasire. (Holocaust. Commemoration. Awareness. Overcoming.). There opened an exhibition of paintings by artists from Moldova in the hall.
The Moldovan Parliament condemned Holocaust by adopting in July 2016 a political statement accepting the report of the International Commission on the Study of Holocaust.
