Moldovan foreign affairs ministry hosts 29th meeting of EU Border Assistance Mission for Moldova, Ukraine

Chisinau, 26 January /MOLDPRES/ - The Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry (MAEIE) today hosted the 29th meeting of the Consultative Board of the European Union Border Assistance Mission to Moldova and Ukraine (EUBAM), the MAEIE public diplomacy, strategic communication and media interaction service has reported.  

The event was chaired by Head of the EU Delegation in Moldova, Ambassador Peter Michalko. Attending the meeting was EUBAM Mission Head, Ambassador Slawomir Pichor. Moldova’s national delegation was led by State Secretary at the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry Tatiana Molcean. Attending the event were also representatives of the Customs Service, General Inspectorate of Border Police, Reintegration Policies Bureau and counterpart institutions from Ukraine, along with representatives of EUBAM international partner organizations: Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, International Organization for Migration, EU Advisory Mission in Ukraine, United Nations Development Programme.     

The participants in the meeting unveiled and approved the EUBAM activity report for May-November 2017, principal results recorded in the field of integrated border management and customs cooperation. The participants also discussed and presented visions of the partner services on joint control at the Moldovan-Ukrainian border, in the context of the intergovernmental agreement signed on 6 October 2017. The agenda included also a subject on the action plan of the 12th phase of the programme, started on 1 December 2017 for a three-year period. EUBAM’s priorities for the new mandate were pointed out.    

The next meeting in this format will take place in Odessa in June 2018.
