Moldovan magistrates issue harsher rulings for three of defendants in La Soacra case

Chisinau, 29 January /MOLDPRES/- Magistrates of the Chisinau Court of Appeal today issued harsher rulings for three of the defendants in the file “La Soacra”. At the same time, the court upheld the conviction on the café manager name.
According to the ruling, manager Andrei Iarina was sentenced to 7 years in prison in a semi-closed penitentiary.
At the same time, employee in charge of the fire prevention Sergiu Popel got another year of imprisonment from the Chisinau Court of Appeal. Now he is to serve 7 years in prison in a semi-closed penitentiary, with deprivation to hold office for a term of 12 years. Earlier, he was sentenced to 6 years in prison.
Also, employee of the Municipal Public Health Centre Vasile Toma has got the same sentence, who was previously sentenced to 2 years in prison with suspension.
On 9 January 2016, a large fire occurred in the La Soacra café in the capital’s central food market, after a gas cylinder exploded in the area. Following the incident, 4 people died and 13 were injured.
