Central Election Commission of Moldova, India sign cooperation memorandum

Chisinau, 30 January /MOLDPRES/- The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Moldova and India signed a memorandum of understanding which pledged to promote the exchange of knowledge and experience in the organizational and technical development of the electoral process.
The document was signed at the international conference “Inclusion of people with disabilities in the election process”, held in New Delhi, India. At the same time, the two institutions have committed to support the exchange of information and materials on the organization of training, facilitate the development of relations with other electoral authorities and organizations, develop and distribute materials on electoral systems, electoral technologies, educating and informing voters, participation of women, minorities, people with disabilities, increasing citizens’ participation in the electoral process and other cooperative arrangements agreed.
The participants in the conference exchanged experience on innovations related to facilitating the access of people with disabilities to the electoral process. They also discussed the role of international and non-governmental organizations in promoting the accessibility of the electoral process for disabled people, including the development of strategies for tackling barriers. The CEC delegation made a presentation on Moldova’s experience on ensuring the electoral rights of disabled people.
Attended the event were representatives of the electoral authorities from seven countries.
