Moldovan food safety agency to verify quality of dairy products

Chisinau, 5 February /MOLDPRES/ – The National Agency for Food Safety (ANSA) will check national and imported dairy products in Moldova. The decision was taken at an operative meeting today convened by ANSA General Manager, Gheorghe Gaberi, following a study showing that more dairy products marketed in Moldova are not in compliance.
According to the ANSA’s info, starting from the fact that out of a number of 126 samples subjected to lab tests, there were established nonconformities of quality parameters in products manufactured by several domestic producers and two suppliers of those products from Ukraine, it was approved a list of actions to elucidate the situation with those producers, checking product stocks and not allowing them to be placed on the merchant network without prior checking.
Similarly, it was decided to check each batch of products imported by external suppliers with sampling at border checkpoints at the border checkpoints.
After the official commissioning by ANSA of the test results commissioned by the East European Foundation and the results of the investigations, it will be convened a meeting with participation of representatives of ministries and state departments, professional associations and representatives of accredited labs, where there will be presented the actions planned for 2018 on the safety and quality of dairy products.
At the end of last week, the results of a lab test carried out by the Centre for Applied Metrology and Certification at the command of the East – European Foundation, which showed that several dairy products marketed in Moldova did not contain dairy, but vegetable fats or of foreign origin. Some national producers rejected the allegations and said the evidence had been falsified.
