Moldovan cabinet to introduce Information System of Visas Management for diplomatic missions, consular offices

Chisinau, 7 February /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet has approved the replacement of the Visa subsystem by the Information System of Visas Management (SIGV), used by the diplomatic missions and consular offices, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

To adjust the national legislation to the EU one, decision-makers approved a string of amendments to the regulation on the working out of visas. Thus, the term of foreigners’ stay in Moldova was recalculated. Earlier, they have had right to stay in Moldova for 90 days in a period of six months upon the date of the first entrance in Moldova. At present, the visa will be valid 90 days in any period of 180 days.

Another amendment regards the diplomatic missions. If an applicant is known for his/her integrity and trust, he/she will be able to get the visa for Moldova without presenting the invitation issued by the competent authority for foreigners.

At the same time, under the draft, the applicants for the Moldova transit visas will no longer be obliged to present the proof of the accommodation conditions, as most applicants are long distance lorry drivers, who spend the nights in the vehicles they drive.

The accessing and authentication in SIGV is made through the MPass governmental service.
