Moldovan cabinet to increase social benefits for more categories of citizens

Chisinau, 7 February /MOLDPRES/ – The Government decided to increase the amount of state social allowances for more categories of citizens as to ensure social inclusion and improve their living conditions today. Totally, around 78,100 persons will benefit from increase, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

The draft law provides for a 20 per cent increase in state social allowances for persons with disabilities from childhood and for children with disabilities up to 18 years of age. The allowances will be recalculated and paid from the beginning of 2018.

Similarly, for those ones with disabilities and children who lost their support, the allowance will increase by 10 per cent. social benefits for the elderly and care, attendance and supervision will increase by 5 per cent. The increases will be applied from 01 April 2018.

According to the calculations, about MDL 65 million are needed to achieve provisions of the draft law. The respective financial means were provided for in state budget law for 2018.
