Deputy premier meets representatives of UN Women in Moldova

Chisinau, 8 February /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Prime Minister Cristina Lesnic met representatives of UN Women in Moldova - Asya Varbanova, Svetlana Andrieș and Elena Rațoi, on 7 February, the Bureau for Reintegration has reported.
The meeting was focused on exchanging information and ideas on the concept of the national action plan as regards the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on the role of women in peace and security, the role and involvement of the responsible national authorities, the contribution of experts from the Information Centre, NATO Documentation and UN Women in Moldova, the priority areas of intervention and the solutions due to be promoted, the timetable for finalizing and approving the plan, the measures to be taken at the implementation stage.
Also, the participants pointed out Georgia’s successful experience in carrying out projects in this segment, Ukraine’s increased interest in replicating Georgian models and the Moldovan authorities’ ability to benefit from exchanges of best practices on gender promotion.
The deputy premier noted the need to launch a large informational campaign regarding the measures initiated after the approval of the prenotated national action plan, the involvement in the process of all central and local public administration authorities, the development of the transfer of culture/mentality from the developing countries through the development partners, the promotion of mentoring mechanisms for future women-formators/leaders with inspirational models, as well as the obligation to set viable monitoring and evaluation tools for the implementation of the goals set out in the action plan.
