Moldovan authorities to earmark 8.1 million lei for integrated protection of plants

Chisinau, 8 February /MOLDPRES/ - The authorities will allocate 8.1 million lei for the implementation of a national programme on the integrated protection of plants, due to be carried out in 2018-2027. The document will be published in the 9 February issue of the Official Journal (Monitorul Oficial).
The measures set in the action plan are aimed at providing consumers with qualitative and safe vegetal products, developing sustainable agriculture, as well as at providing a sound living environment.
The main actions refer to the promotion of reducing the quantity of phyto-sanitary products used per one hectare of farmland and optimizing the phyto-sanitary treatments of agricultural crops.
Also, the implementation of the programme, as state policy in the plants’ protection sector, phyto-sanitary quarantine, management of phyto-sanitary products and fertilizers, safety of the vegetal origin food products will ensure increase in the productivity of agricultural crops, safety and competitiveness of vegetal origin foodstuffs, both on the domestic market and on the foreign one.
The measures provided for in the programme are meant for familiarizing agricultural producers and prompting them to implement the programme, in order to optimize the direct financial spending in the technological process of cultivating agricultural crops.
The programme was worked out with the assistance of the FAO (UN Food and Agriculture Organization) project, Support to Implement Management of Integrated Protection of Plants in Moldova.
