Single emergency service 112 to be functional in Moldova in late next March

Chisinau, 8 February /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip today chaired a meeting on the latest developments in terms of preparation for the launch of the single service for the emergency calls 112, actions carried out and measures due to be undertaken, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
According to the information unveiled, decision-makers identified the headquarters to place two centres for the reception of emergency calls in the Chisinau municipality and a single information system for receiving calls was purchased.
The technological solution bought is one of the most advanced in Europe; so far, it has been implemented only on Sweden and Denmark. The solution provides a string of essentially new options: geographical position; reception of video calls directly from the CordCom platform; reception of text messages; collecting and introducing the picture and video from other devices in the system. In this way, persons with hearing and sight deficiencies will be able to call the 112 service with no problems.
PM Pavel Filip stressed that the important thing is an as prompt as possible reaction in critical situations, when every second matters for the rescue of human lives, and the new technologies would considerably shorten the time of intervention in emergency situations.
The prime minister demanded undertaking of all needed measures for an as efficient as possible implementation of the single service for the emergency calls 112. The Service is to become functional in late March 2018, by integrating the numbers 901, 902 and 903.
112 is the single number for emergency calls active in all European Union member states. It works 24 hours and can be called absolutely free of charge by each citizen using the fixed telephone or cellphone.
