Chisinau, 8 February /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament approved a declaration, thereby condemning the attacks of Russia on the national information security and abusive interference with the political activity in Moldova, at the first parliament meeting of the 2018 spring session, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
According to the text of the declaration, “the denigrating statements of Russia against Moldova and its citizens, blockages imposed on Moldovan exporters, political harassment of Moldovan officials, including of some representatives of Moldova’s parliament and government. This represents a downright involvement of the Moscow political circles and even of Russian institutions in the politics from our country and shows a provocative and unfriendly attitude towards Moldova.” In the context, the parliament expresses concern about the involvement of entities from Russia in the political activity from Moldova.
The authors emphasize the “groundlessness of the decision adopted by the State Duma of Russia, aimed at limiting Moldovans’ access to programmes of Russian TV channels, hinting that, in reality, the main goal of the rebroadcasting of these programmes in Moldova was not providing qualitative programmes to Moldovans, but the use of this means to denigrate them and denigrate their country. This decision confirms, once again, with additional official evidence, the validity of the Moldovan parliament’s decision to undertake measures to tighten the security of the information space and, at the same time, makes more obvious the interference of the Russian political circles in the content of the programmes broadcast by Russia in Moldova.”
At the same time, the document appeals to high-raking decision-makers of Russia to intervene in order to cease all these abuses and campaigns of denigrating Moldova, stop any form of backing the political parties from Moldova, noting that their financing from external sources is illegal, just as their support by other ways.
At the same time, the authors speak out for a constructive dialogue due to lead to the removal of the blockages emerged and resumption of the activities for strengthening and developing the strategic partnership between Moldova and Russia.
The initiative on the adoption of the Declaration belongs to a group of MPs of the Moldovan Democratic Party, Parliamentary Group of the European People’s Party of Moldova and unaffiliated MPs.
The document was backed with the votes of the majority of the lawmakers present in the session hall.
