Moldovan PM attends inauguration of law court in western city

Chisinau, 9 February /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip today participated in a ceremony of inauguration of the law court in the Ungheni city, western Moldova. The PM said the Ungheni-based law court was the first building constructed in the context of the optimization of the judicial map of Moldova, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.   

At the same time, the prime minister stressed that the further reformation of justice remained a priority of the cabinet. “Even if there is much criticism on this dimension, we are moving in a correct direction and you will see that the developments are pretty positive. I want to assure you that, in continuation, the government will be open in communication and will work out draft laws, in order to strengthen the judicial system.”  

Also, Pavel Filip said the economic development of states in the world depended on the level of ensuring the supremacy of law too. “We took much effort to improve the business environment; yet, investors com where they have confidence in justice. Therefore, I will tell you a thing which I fully trust: judges are also responsible for the way the people will live in Moldova, for their well-being,” the PM noted.    

In the context, Pavel Filip voiced hope that the modern infrastructure of the court would contribute to the improvement of the quality of the justice act and to a more efficient fulfillment by judges of the mission of protection of citizens’ rights and interests.    

The new building, constructed according to the European standards, has seven floors and a total area of 4,620 square metres. It comprises eight court rooms, a specially arranged room for minors, an office for mediation and four detention cells.

The Justice Palace from Ungheni merged the courts from Ungheni and Nisporeni. The construction works lasted three years and cost about 60 million lei.
