Chisinau, 9 February /MOLDPRES/ - An electric vehicle equipped with special fridges for carrying blood worth over 30,000 euros today was donated by the German retain company Kaufland to the Oncological Institute from Moldova.

Health, Labour and Social Protection Minister Svetlana Cebotari, the director of the Public Health Municipal Institution Oncological Institute, Larisa Catrinici and the leadership of Kaufland Moldova attended the event on handing over the donation.

According to Svetlana Cebotari, the car, which is equipped according to European standards, will shorten the period of movement and was a need for the Oncological Institute, where blood transfusions are made daily.

The director of the Public Health Municipal Institution Oncological Institute, Larisa Catrinici, said that the new vehicle would replace the old Soviet transport means, which had been too much demanded. Catrinici also said that patients were daily treated at the Institutions, for whom transfusions are vital and the new car would allow a quick supply with blood and needed components.

The German retail company Kaufland has already opened an office in Chisinau and works to identify grounds for the construction of shops and local producers which might deliver goods to Kaufland shops from Moldova and Romania. Earlier, representatives of the German company have said that, till late 2020, they planned to open six shops in Chisinau, with the value of investment reaching 60 million euros. Kaufland is one of the biggest German retail companies in Europe; it is part of the German concern Schwarz-Gruppe and has over 1,000 shops in more countries.
