Moldovan parliament speaker, young people from national pupils' council discuss challenges of education system

Chisinau, 9 February /MOLDPRES/ – The achievements and challenges of education system were discussed during a meeting of Speaker of Parliament, Andrian Candu, with students from national council of students (CNE) of technical vocational school, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
There were extensively discussed guidelines to encourage and support youth, including in employment process, housing, developing a business in the plenary meeting of parliament. The Speaker referred to a number of programmes under implementation such as Prima Casa (First home), financial support programmes for young entrepreneurs, access to European funds etc.
A special topic of discussion was the advantages of dual learning, combining practice in enterprises (70 per cent) and vocational training in technical vocational education institutions (30 per cent).
"We discussed with foreign investors in Moldova to engage youngsters in their companies, combining learning with work. Thus, young people will also gain theoretical knowledge and practical skills and gain work experience," said Andrian Candu.
The young people reported a number of issues in their educational institutions, such as outdated machinery, moral worn textbooks etc.
"The education system as a whole is a priority this year. At both Government and Parliament levels, the ministry and the commission will work to identify solutions as to improve the system radically," said Andrian Candu.
The CNE of technical vocational education is a representative and consultative structure of pupils in vocational schools and colleges of the ministry of education, culture and research (MECC), where there are discussed achievements and challenges which young people facd within education system.
The council is formed, for 2017 – 2018, out of 36 youngsters, representatives of vocational schools, boarding – schools and schools of excellence.
