Over ninety cultural projects to be funded from state budget of Moldova in 2018

Chisinau, 10 February /MOLDPRES/ – Over 90 cultural projects, carried out by public associations, will benefit from financing from the state budget in 2018, totaling MDL 4 million.

The projects were selected by an expert commission following a competition organised by the ministry of education, culture and research (MECC) in accordance with a regulation approved by the government in 2014.

Interviewed by agency, Secretary of State for Culture of the above mentioned ministry, Andrei Chistol, said that contest has aimed to support cultural projects of national, general and community interest, implemented by creation unions and other public organisations.

According to the official, due to Executive’s support, the budget for financing cultural projects in 2018 practically doubled compared to 2017 – it increased from MDL 2 to 4 million. "We are pleased that a lot of requests came from the cultural associations in the territory," said Andrei Chistol.

Thus, the cultural projects in the territory will benefit from MDL 660 thousand, projects of music – MDL 1090 thousand, and those in the field of literature – MDL 945 thousand. The cinema projects will be financed by MDL 315 thousand, the theater ones – MDL 310 thousand and of visual arts – MDL 245 thousand.

Selected projects to be funded by MECC include: International Festival of ClassFest Theater Schools, ETHNO JAZZ FESTIVAL, Moldovan National Youth Orchestra Summer Concerts, Cross – Border Competition Festival: Runaway Fanfare, Bookfest International Book Fair Chisinau, International Book Fair for Children and Youth, International Festival: European Spring of Poets, National Festival for Creation and Interpretation of Romanian Romance: Silver Chrysanthemum, etc.

The cultural projects carried out by public associations have been financed by MECC commencing 2009, according to a government’s regulation.
