Moldovan food safety agency suggests goods containing vegetable fats to be sold apart from dairy products

Chisinau, 10 February /MOLDPRES/ – The National Agency for Food Safety (ANSA) proposed to excluded name: dairy product, in goods containing vegetable fats. Also, authorities proposed that preparations containing vegetable fats should be marketed in sectors separated from dairy products.
Similarly, in order to increase responsibility of operators in the field of production quality, ANSA proposed to tighten sanctions against economic agents which would place fake products on market until the immediate stoppage of activity over a certain period of time.
The decisions were made following the appearance of a study denoting that more dairy products marketed in Moldova were not in conformity. According to ANSA’s info, based on the fact that out of a number of 126 samples subjected to lab tests, nonconformities of quality parameters there were established in products manufactured by several domestic producers and two suppliers of such products from Ukraine, it was approved a list of actions to elucidate situation with those producers, checking product stocks and not allowing them to be placed on the merchant network without prior checking.
At the same time, it was decided to check each batch of products imported by external suppliers with sampling at the veterinary border control points at border. So far, there were taken several samples of dairy products, including from specialized companies. Currently, lab investigations are ongoing. Some samples complete process of examining results to be exposed.
At the end of last week, results of a lab test conducted by centre for applied metrology and certification (CMAC) at command of east – European foundation (FEE) revealed that several dairy products sold in Moldova did not contain dairy, vegetable or fats of foreign origin. Some national producers rejected the allegations and said the evidence had been falsified.
