Chisinau, 13 February /MOLDPRES/- Socially vulnerable families will receive free of charge detectors of toxic gases emitted by heating installations. The leader of the Democratic Party (PDM), Vlad Plahotniuc, made the statement today.
Plahotniuc asked officials of the General Inspectorate for Emergency of the Interior Ministry to increase safety measures in the use of stoves and other heating equipment.
“There is a worrying statistic about the death of some people, even entire families by asphyxiation, due to defects to stoves. I asked those responsible to come up with solutions to combat this phenomenon in the first phase by installing free of charge detectors to alert people in the home when such problems arise so that they can be saved”, he said.
“Also, ways to raise awareness of this danger by all citizens should be analyzed by conducting information campaigns on the measures to be taken to prevent such tragic accidents”, he said.
Data show that from the beginning of the year, there were 219 fires resulting in the death of 27 people, including two children. Statistical data also include fires caused by inappropriate operation of stoves, electrical heating appliances or natural gas heating systems.
