Chisinau, 13 February /MOLDPRES/ – The topic of traffic safety and domestic violence was discussed today at the weekly meeting of Democrats. The leader of PDM, Vlad Plahotniuc, announced that he asked the Ministry Interior Affairs (MAI) to make radiography of areas where occur most of accidents and a broad analysis of the way in which driving licenses were issued to drivers who violate the law.
According to Plahotniuc, there were taken some important actions recently in the field of combating driving under the influence of alcohol and there has even been a significant decrease in the number of accidents caused by drunk drivers, but traffic safety issues remain at high level because other types of issues need to be tackled, rather than the roads are signaled, the matters related to state administration.
"We will also make efforts at the party level, mobilize our mayors and councilors, and offer all the support to MAI so that together they can find solutions to increase safety on highways in the country," said Plahotniuc.
Also today, the head of Democrats announced that he asked the leadership of MAI to investigate cases of domestic violence and come up with solutions to such issues.
"Another topic related to the work of MAI discussed today was how to deal with cases of domestic violence, including how victims of this phenomenon are given the necessary conditions of privacy and protection when they denounce it. I know that from experience of Edelweiss Foundation, where we carried out a comprehensive project to support victims of domestic violence, how important it is to offer them a place to feel protected and helped especially in the early hours of those abuses. MAI committed to analyze the issue and offer solutions, depending on situation in each district, we believe that solutions can be found to solve this problem," said Plahotniuc.
According to the National Patrol Inspectorate (INP) data, only 11 road accidents occurred last weekend on roads of Moldova, with 1 deceased person and 12 traumatized persons.
