Moldovan electoral body sets holding of new local polls in village in western district

Chisinau, 13 February /MOLDPRES/ - The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) has established the holding of new local polls to elect the mayor in the Parlita village, western Ungheni district, for 20 May 2018. The decision was taken at a meeting of the Commission today.
The elections will take place, given that the former mayor of the settlement has died.
At the same time, CEC has earlier established that new local polls to elect mayors would be held in the villages Leuseni and Nemteni, central Hancesti district, Volovita village, northern Soroca district and village Jora de Mijloc, central Orhei district, on 20 May, this year.
Also, CEC initiated the procedure of validation of an MP given to the Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (PLDM). Thus, the Commission will propose to the Constitutional Court for validation the mandate of lawmaker for the alternate candidate, Sergiu Ceaus, on PLDM’s list.
Also today, CEC adopted more decisions on giving mandate of councilor in several district, town and city councils.
