Moldovan cabinet to enhance measures for water quality protection

Chisinau, 14 February /MOLDPRES/ – The Cabinet of Ministers approved today the draft law amending and completing the water law as to establish a framework for a Community policy on water and to adjust the national legislation to the EU norms, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

As such, there will be carried out a comprehensive analysis of protected areas within time, contributing to more effective planning and implementation of measures to protect and improve water quality.

For this purpose, it will be founded the Registry of Protected Areas at the level of the river basin districts. It will include areas for abstraction of drinking water, protection of economically important species, protection of habitats and nutrient – sensitive sectors, including vulnerable areas.

The document is to be examined by parliament.
