Chisinau, 14 February /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet of ministers today approved more amendments to the law on the organization and carrying out of the tourism activity in Moldova. They will facilitate the work of economic agents from the sector, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

Under the draft, the task concerning the working out of policies in the tourism sector will be transferred from the Education, Culture and Research Ministry to the Economics and Infrastructure Ministry and the one of enforcing these policies – to the Investments Agency, the foundation of which is to be approved in the near future.

At the same time, the document provides for the abrogation of certain norms inadequate to the tourism field, with the powers being earlier transferred to other authorities, in the context of the central public administration reform. To optimize the providing of public services, such competences as registration of tourism routes, monitoring the tourism patrimony, classification of the tourism reception structures and keeping their record have been transferred to the Public Services Agency.

Another novelty deals with the exclusion of the obligation of the tourism operators and tourist agencies to present statistic and financial reports to the Economics and Infrastructure Ministry; this obligation is valid only in relation with the statistics bodies.

Also, decision-makers worked out a draft on the abrogation of the Moldovan president’s decree on the foundation of the National Centre for Qualification of Staff from Tourism Industry, given that, at present, this duty is successfully fulfilled by the academic environment.
