Hunting of migrating birds on reproduction period to be banned under law in Moldova

Chisinau, 15 February /MOLDPRES/ - The law on the amendment an completion of the Law on animal kingdom, due to bring the national legislation in line with the European standards, will be published in the 16 February issue of the Official Journal (Monitorul Oficial).  

As a result of the amendments made to the old law, new provisions were included with actions of protection and conservation of migrating birds, areas of reproduction, as well as of the points of halts along the migration routes. Also, decision-makers established the special areas of avifaunistic protection and zones of special protection, measures of preventing the pollution and deterioration of wild birds’ habitats.  

The document comes up with a string of completions to the list of species of migrating birds recorded in Moldova and sets that their hunting on the period of reproduction or during the route of return to the zones of nesting will be banned.

The present law will enter into force following six months after its publication in Moldova’s Official Journal. On this period, the cabinet will adjust its acts to the current law.
