Romania reconfirms good intentions to contribute to increasing Moldova's energy security - PM says

Chisinau, 27 February /MOLDPRES/- The energy interconnection projects and the perspective of the operation of the Ungheni-Chisinau gas pipeline were discussed today by Prime Minister Pavel Filip and Romania’s Prime Minister Viorica Dancila, on her first working visit to Moldova.
According to the government’s communication and protocol department, the officials welcomed the opening in Chisinau of the representative of the Romanian gas company “Transgaz” and its decision to participate in the investment tender for privatization of the Vestmoldtransgaz state-owned enterprise. On 26 February, the privatization commission announced that the Eurotransgaz enterprise and Transgaz company, as sole associate, was announced winner of the competition.
In this context, Filip said that Transgaz Romania and the Romanian state have reconfirmed their good intentions to contribute to increasing the energy security of our state. “This investment will allow us to diversify the gas import sources, which is the basis of a state’s energy security”, Filip said.
“The operationalisation of the Ungheni-Chisinau interconnector is a priority not only for Bucharest and Chisinau, but is a major project of regional relevance on the EU agenda in the Eastern dimension policy”, Dancila said.
The Eurotransgaz company confirmed its intention to undertake the construction of the Ungheni-Chisinau gas pipeline of up to two years and the commitment to invest up to 93 million euros.
