Moldovan capital's authorities mobilized in context of forecasts on sharp weather change

Chisinau, 17 March /MOLDPRES/ - The Chisinau acting general mayor, Silvia Radu, today mobilized all praetors of the Moldovan capital’s districts and sanitation operators of the city’s local public administration, in the context of the meteorologists’ forecasts on sharp weather change.
At a meeting of the commission for emergency situations, the acting mayor warned the district praetors, the Exdrupo administration and the housing and utility administration to be prepared for interventions and act in the line with the plan established. The mayor demanded intervention immediately after the weather changes, in order to ensure the cleaning of the main roads, secondary ones, where public transport is moving, as well as the access ways to suburban settlements.
At the same time, Silvia Radu demanded that decision-makers clean all pavements and repeatedly inform private people and enterprises to clean the pavements nearby the dwellings they own or manage, in order to avoid the formation of ice.
Also, the participants in the meeting of the commission for emergency situations ruled to urgently buy an additional quantity of anti-skid material, in order to ensure the cleaning of streets in conditions of weather change.
According to the information unveiled, the centre for hosting and orienting people without stable residence, placed on the Haltei Street from Chisinau, is prepared for coping with the increase in the number of persons asking for shelter, in the situation when the air temperature drops.
The State Hydrometeorological Service announced Yellow Code of sharp weather change, valid for 17-22 March. Meteorologists forecast snowfall, glazed frost and waves of cold. At the same time, the air temperature is expected to drop to -2 Celsius degrees at during the day and -9 degrees at night.
