National anticorruption centre to monitor management of European financial assistance provided to Moldova

Chisinau, 3 May /MOLDPRES/ - Employees of the National Anticorruption Centre (CNA) jointly with the ones of the European Investment Bank (EIB) will monitor the management of the European financial assistance provided to Moldova. CNA director Bogdan Zumbreanu and EIB Director Barbara Balke signed a memorandum to this effect in Luxembourg on 2 May.
According to CNA data, anticorruption officers and EIB employees will exchange information within inquiries on fraudulent and inconsistent practices and will back each other, especially in terms of achieving the goals and treating cases of common interest.
Also, CNA and EIB employees will mutually provide assistance on investigations carried out and other operational activities. The assistance will include technical means of inquiry, ways for processing and analyzing data, expertise and equipments in the information technology sector. The information provided by partners will be confidential and could not be divulged outside the organizations for which it is meant.
The CNA leadership said that the institution’s priority for 2018 was to monitor and prevent offences related to the embezzlement of European assistance, with three inquiries underway in this respect.
