Parties promoting women, youth to receive more state money in Moldova

Chisinau, 03 May /MOLDPRES/ – The political parties that will promote women and young people will receive financial support from the state budget. A draft law amending mechanism for distributing financial means for financing political parties was adopted in final reading by the Legislature today.
The new provisions stipulate 40 per cent of total amount of allowances will be distributed to political parties in proportion to gained performance in parliamentary elections and 40 per cent more for performance of general local elections. The amount of 10 per cent will benefit proportionally political parties that will respect quota of at least 40 per cent women candidates submitted in all uninominal constituencies in parliamentary elections and 5 per cent – parties with number of women elected as MP on uninominal constituencies. The amount of 5 per cent will benefit political parties in proportion to young people actually elected in general parliamentary and local elections.
Similarly, percentage quota allocated from state budget remains unchanged and can not exceed 0.2 per cent of state budget revenues, except for special purpose revenues.
Another addition refers to the fact that an individual, during a budget year, can make cash donations to political parties up to three average monthly salaries set for that year. The donations exceeding this limit will be made exclusively through bank operations.
The new legislative provisions will be implemented starting 01 January 2019.
