Moldovan economic agents employing disabled people to benefit from state subsidies

Chisinau, 3 May /MOLDPRES/ - Employees employing persons with disabilities and jobless people from vulnerable groups will benefit from subsidies on behalf of the state. The parliament adopted a draft law on the promotion of labour force employment today.
According to the draft passed in the first reading, the economic agents employing staff of the aforementioned categories will be able to receive subsidies amounting to 30 per cent of the size of the average salary on the economy for the year before, for a six-month period, for each employee. The money will be provided to partially compensate the salary of the jobless person employed.
The subsidization of jobs is meant for unemployed people running the risk of social exclusion, in order to facilitate their employment. The new provisions refer to the following categories of jobless people: persons aged 50 and older; persons released from prisons; victims of the trafficking of human beings, following the psychological and social rehabilitation; persons fighting with the consumption of substances; victims of the domestic violence and other vulnerable categories.
Also, subsidies will be offered for the creation or adaptation of jobs for disabled people, employed with individual labour contract for an indefinite period. In these cases, decision-makers will compensate 50 per cent of the costs needed for the creation and adaptation of the job, born by the employer. At the same time, the size of subsidy will not exceed the quantum of ten average monthly salaries on the economy for the previous year for each job created or adapted.
The draft was worked out with the support of European experts in the labour sector and will enter into force after adoption in the final reading.
Over 180,000 people with various disabilities are registered in Moldova.
