European commissioner welcomes results achieved by Moldova's authorities in promoting reforms

Chisinau, 3 May /MOLDPRES/ - The importance of boosting the reforms which are to provide a better quality of people’s living today was highlighted by Prime Minister Pavel Filip and European Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn. The officials met in Brussels, following the Moldova-EU Association Council’s meeting.
According to the government’s communication and protocol department, Pavel Filip and Johannes Hahn reviewed the developments as to the budget support and assistance projects for Moldova. The officials noted that the discussions within the Council had reconfirmed the intensity of cooperation with EU.
The prime minister reiterated the attention personally paid to the justice sector reform and continuing the public administration reform. The investigation of the bank fraud and sanctioning the guilty persons represents another concern of the governance, along with the implementation of the legislative and institutional mechanisms for the prevention of such dangers.
The prime minister said that the parliamentary polls due this year have an important connotation for the future of Moldova’s European integration, including under the aspect of the configuration of the future ruling coalition. Pavel Filip voiced hope that the pro-European political forces would prove maturity and would be able to protect the progress recorded in the European integration process.
The turning to good account of the macro-financial assistance is another key element of the Moldova-EU dialogue. Estimations show the existence of needed pre-requisites for the fulfillment of the conditions and for the other two installments.
The European commission welcomed the results achieved in the reforms’ promotion. He stressed that EU would further back the actions aimed at developing the democracy and the rule of law state.
A special subject of the discussions was Moldova’s participation in the multilateral dimension of the Eastern Partnership. Johannes Hahn praised the active involvement and commitment of Moldova in achieving the goals set for 2020.
