European Poets Spring international festival held in Moldovan capital

Chisinau, 3 May /MOLDPRES/ - Poets and translators from Moldova, Azerbaijan, Belgium, the Czech Republic, France, Lithuania, Romania, Germany, Poland, Russia and Slovakia today assembled at the seventh issue of the European Poets’ Spring International Festival, held in Chisinau on 3-5 May.
Participating in the festival are poets and translators: Michaël Vandebril (Belgium), Josef Straka (the Czech Republic), Ernest Wichner, Katharina Sigrid Eismann (Germany), Gökçehur Ç. (Turkey), Salim Babullaoglu, Ghismăt Rustamov (Azerbaijan), Bartoz Radomski (Poland), Zuzana Kuglerova (Slovakia), Vladimir Korkunov (Russia), Mircea Dan Duță, Lucian Vasiliu, Nicolae Sava, Mihaela Albu, Iustin Moraru, Ana Pușcașu, Constantin Acosmei (Romania) and others.
Contacted by MOLDPRES, the head of the Moldovan Writers’ Union, Arcadie Suceveanu, said that the goal of the festival was to open new horizons for culture, as well as to promote the Romanian literature from Moldova, through translations in different parts of the world. ‘’Thanks to our contacts and cooperation, we have managed to publish several collective collections of our writers in different languages. We also translated into Romanian works by foreign writers. We want to educate young translators from Romanian into other languages and from other languages into Romanian,’’ Arcadie Suceveanu stressed.
Afterwards, a symposium titled, European Dialogues: Poets and Translators, was held, followed by book launches and recitals of poems. On 4 May, the participants in the festival will have meetings with readers in lyceums and universities, after which a ceremony of handing the festival’s prizes will take place at the Writers’ Union.
On 5 May, the participants in the festival will go to Soroca, where a recital of poems is to be held at the local Fortress.
