Moldovan policemen concerned in possible confiscation of touring car suspended from office during investigation

Chisinau, 11 May /MOLDPRES/ - The policemen concerned in a case on possible confiscation of a touring car, where the copies of a local newspaper from Rezina were presumably placed, were suspended from their positions during the carrying out of the internal investigation.
According to the Interior Ministry (MAI), the General Police Inspectorate today started an internal investigation against the head of the Rezina Police Inspectorate and policemen involved, in order to establish all circumstances and take a decision in this case.
Prime Minister Pavel Filip on 10 May demanded that the MAI leadership urgently starts an internal investigation on the case signaled in the mass media on a possible confiscation of a touring car, in which the copies of a local newspaper from Rezina were presumably placed.
At the same time, the PM asked that the public opinion be informed on this case and the findings of the investigation. Filip noted that, if infringements committed by policemen were found out, they should be sanctioned under the law.
Following the carrying out of the investigation, the Interior Ministry will come up with details in this case.
