Chisinau, 11 May /MOLDPRES/ - The candidate of the SHOR party, Reghina Apostolova, has been excluded from the electoral race for the Chisinau general mayor office. Magistrates of the Chisinau-based Centru district court took a decision to this effect today.
An application to the court was submitted by the Council of the Chisinau Electoral District. The Council admitted a notification by the National Unity Party on the illegal financing by foreign citizens of the candidate of the SHOR formation. At the same time, Reghina Apostolova was accused of having used the picture of a foreign citizen in an electoral spot.
After the meeting, Reghina Apostolova said that the judges’ ruling was groundless. ‘’I carried out an efficient electoral campaign and I felt that the capital’s resident back me. I wanted the situation in Chisinau to be changed for the better, but we were withdrawn from the electoral race groundlessly. I reiterate that I have not received money from foreign countries or from international enterprises,’’ Apostolova said.
The lawyer of the candidate, Denis Ulanov, noted that ‘’the judges’ decision will be appealed at the Court of Appeal today.
For their part, representatives of the Council of the Chisinau Electoral District said that ‘’they do not comment on the court’s decision, as they have earlier given their opinion within an application.’’
During the court session, more supporters of the SHOR party protested against the exclusion of the candidate from the electoral race in front of the court building.
Eleven candidates have remained in the electoral race following the exclusion of Reghina Apostolova.
